German Potato Salad

6 slices bacon, cut fine.
6 cups boiled potatoes. (5 lbs) Red potatoes make best salad.
2 Tablespoons Miracle Whip. (Do not substitute mayo.)
Fry bacon & remove grease. Save the grease.
Take 1/3 cup of the grease, sautĂȘ 1/2 cup chopped onion, 3/4 cup chopped celery in the grease.
After sautĂȘing, add 2 teaspoons of salt, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water & 1/2 cup dark vinegar.
Stir well.
Add bacon & the Miracle Whip to the potatoes. Stir together.
Pour onion & celery mixture over potatoes. Stir together & heat.
Serve warm.
Best if it sets in refrigerator overnight.

Cucumber Salad

4 medium cucumbers, sliced.
1 medium onion, sliced.
1 1/2 cup Miracle Whip.
1/2 cup sugar.
Salt & pepper.
Vinegar.
Combine Miracle Whip, sugar, salt & pepper, (to your taste).
Add enough vinegar to make it easy to pour.
Add cucumbers & onions. Refrigerate overnight.

Cole Slaw

1 medium head of cabbage, 3 lbs.
1/2 cup sugar.
3 tablespoons Miracle Whip.
2 tablespoons vinegar.
1/4 cup water.
Shred cabbage, (add a little shredded carrot for color).
Mix ingredients together.
Pour over cabbage.
Let stand, serve chilled.
Refrigerate leftover slaw, keeps for a long period.

Canned Salsa

12 to 15 large tomatoes.
2 large onions.
2 large green peppers.
1 large red pepper.
1 1/2 cup white vinegar.
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon salt.
2 teaspoons dry mustard.
1/4 cup sugar.
2 teaspoons chili powder.
1 teaspoon ground cumin.
1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
1 teaspoon garlic powder.
1, 15oz can tomato sauce.
Assortment of hot peppers, to your taste.
Peel & 1/4 tomatoes, scoop out seeds.
Combine all ingredients, cook & boil.
Simmer 1 hour, stirring now & then.
Put in sterile jars & seal.
Process in hot water bath or pressure can.
